Not only do they reveal timeless values, but they also inspire new genera- tions of composers proposing covers and arrangements of these songs thus enriching our Polish music culture. Marek Grechuta’s songs can potentially also become teaching materials in music education for children and young people. The article presents the life and career of Grechuta, indicates problems with classifying his artistic output, and highlights the importance of his albums dedicated to children and young people. Numerous covers of Grechuta’s songs are also mentioned as well as successful attempts at their polyphonic arrangements, which – as it is argued – may be treated as an interesting proposal in pedagogical work.
Anna G. WITOLD RUDZIŃSKI AND HIS LEARNING OF MUSIC LISTENING
Witold Rudziński (1913-2004) – composer, theorist, music historian, pedagogue, music critic. He is also known for having promoted the idea of listening to music and vari- ous methods of teaching it. He would often stress the significance of that area of his didactic work himself. Whilst creating his method, Rudziński focuses upon two aspects – the importance of developing the music imagination of the listener and a conscious choice of the widest possible repertoire. The author presents the entire piece in a concise manner, without breaking it up into separate elements. The act of getting to know music becomes an ongoing game between the analytical and the synthetical thinking processes. An active, versatile listener, who perceives music intensely is, according to Rudziński, a co-creator of the musical work. The biggest importance is attached to the right choice of repertoire of different periods and styles, ideally also varied in terms of orchestration. All this provides an extra challenge for perception and therefore becomes a great way of training the listener’s brain. Various methods of notation (such as music examples, diagrams and illustrations) enhance the process of perception by letting the listener see whatever might be impossible to hear in the direct contact with the work. The author’s concept of listening to music was a result of his deep belief that music plays a unique role and has a significant impact upon everybody’s overall cultural awareness. Rudziński promoted his ideas in various forms, including radio broadcasts, lessons and open lectures. He also wrote a number of successful publications, which provide a valuable output of his life-long passion for popularising music. These include: Music for Everyone (1 st ed. Cracow 1948, 2 nd ed. Cracow 1966), About Music in the Company of a Loud-Speaker (Cracow 1975) as well as Music of Our Century (Warsaw 1995).
Małgorzata Waszak ##submission.copyrightStatement## 2018-07-12 2018-07-12 6 27 36 ULICZNI MUZYCY A FENOMEN MIEJSCA I EGZYSTENCJALNE DOŚWIADCZENIE SYTUACJI GRANICZNEJ
STREET MUSICIANS A PHENOMENON OF PLACE AND EXPERIENCE EXISTENTIAL EXSTREME SITUATION
The article focuses on open forms of musical expression. The subject of these identity transformations is the population defined today as Ukrainian minority in Podlaskie Voivodeship, or as they call themselves “Ukrainians of Podlasie”. A coherent and explicit group, based on such cultural elements as: language in the form of archaic dialect, autochthonousness, local folk culture and customs and the orthodox religion. Over the past decades, this population has been a subject of enormous and significant consciousness-identity changes, which most often were the result of geopolitical changes the region. It should be emphasized that the process of the revitalization of this minority group in the Podlaskie Voivodeship has not yet been completed. There is also visible, gradual change in the approach to the key elements of culture that have historically decided about the rebirth of this minority. What is indigenous, traditional and local is more and more often transformed and changed by more unified, codified and universal cultural elements. Language in the form of a local, archaic dialect is replaced in the young generation by a literary language, and in cultural expressions, dances and songs local traditions are being replaced by patterns drawn directly from Ukrainian culture. The Ukrainian minority in Podlaskie Voivodeship shows very well how and on what factors, events, and in what direction can both the national image of a given region and the ethnic and national identity of ethnic and national groups change. The article was based on two own researches, historical studies conducted by historians and linguists on the area of today’s Podlaskie Voivodeship and the press and cultural events implemented by the Ukrainian minority in the Podlaskie Voivodeship.
Andrzej Nikitorowicz ##submission.copyrightStatement## 2018-07-12 2018-07-12 6 59 74 ANIMOWANIE MULTIKULTUROWYCH DZIAŁAŃ ARTYSTYCZNYCH – O SZANSACH ROZWIJANIA ETNOPEDAGOGIKI W CZASACH KULTUROWEGO IZOLACJONIZMU
ANIMATION OF MULTICULTURAL ARTISTIC ACTIVITIES – OPPORTUNITY TO DEVELOP ETHNO PEDAGOGY IN TIMES OF CULTURAL ISOLATION
The article presents the issue of ethno-pedagogy science and the chances of its estab- lishment by cultural animation. Based on the statements of critics of various periods, the author notes the excellent interpretation of the functions of musical-critical text. Thus, it was found that A. Sohor considered the social functions of musical criticism, regarding the place, which it occupies in music. Position of L. Melnyk is caused by the interpretation of musical criticism as an analytical segment of music journalism. From the author’s view, the most detailed features of musical-critical text are considered by O. Zinkevych and Yu. Chekan. They identified informative, interpretative, axiological, communicative, educative, regulatory and prognostic features. The author paid most attention to axiological and communicative functions of musical-critical text and concluded that the axiological function is the main function of criti- cism. It is directly related to the notion of artistic discovery and depends on personal interest in the subject of art. When analyzing the communicative function, the text is seen as the act of speaking, as an expression. Communicative links between texts are also indicated. To sum up, it was concluded that serving the communicative function, musicalcritical text provides a connection among various chains of cultural and artistic process.
PSYCHOPHYSIOLOGICAL FEATURES OF PERFORMING FUNCTIONS REALIZATION BY THE MUSICIAN SAXOPHONIST IN THE CONDITIONS OF THE ORIGINAL AUTHOR’S IDEA TRANSFER
The specificity of the study is to reveal the properties of the solo saxophonist psychophysiological activity, which is a symbiosis of many factors, from the stamina of the organism to the thoughtful lability, aimed at solving executive issues. It manifests first and foremost in solving problems of performing practice, aimed at expanding the possibilities of the instrument in the field of evolution of expressive capabilities, techniques of performance and acoustic qualities. This direction of artistic and psychological science sets the theoretical basis for understanding the deep physiological mechanisms aimed at the implementation of the mental processes of the development of performing arts. The conducted research is based on the analytical comparative and cognitive method of the artistic direction aimed at revealing the specifics of the creative process, which is a complex combination of physiognomic and psychic functions of the human body representing a unique symbiotic system aimed at fulfilling the set artistic tasks. The performance of the musical work as one of the most complex forms of manifestation of creative thought puts musicians with multistage tasks of creative interpretively, the quality of which depends on the degree of transmission of the artistic design of the author of the work, and the limit of perception by his audience. The scientific novelty of this work consists in an attempt to adapt existing theoretical postulates concerning psychophysiological activity of the musician to the conditions of practically-performing development of a professional saxophonist aimed at revealing the original author’s idea. Setting the task for revealing a certain work, the saxophonist raises several guidance goals in front of him and adheres to the process of artistic analysis, in particular: reopening the author's context of the work by filling it with new emotions and even changing partly or completely the general concept of the composition; Transferring to the content of the work his/her life-professional experience and personal experiences; If necessary, changes the technical and expressive composition plan. The result of this activity is the phenomenon of interpretation, which is one of the options for interpreting the author’s content of a musical work, based on the subjective relation of the performer to the artistic material.
Денис Игоревич Зотов ##submission.copyrightStatement## 2018-07-12 2018-07-12 6 155 166 ŻYCIE KULTURALNE LUDNOŚCI UKRAIŃSKIEJ WE LWOWIE W CZASIE OKUPACJI NIEMIECKIEJ (1941-1944)
EXPERIENCE OF CULTURAL LIFE OF UKRAINIANS OF LVIV DURING THE GERMAN OCCUPATION (1941-1944)
Having studied the publications on the pages of the official press, we can recreate a pic- ture of the rich concert life of Ukrainian musicians of Lviv during the German occupation. The activities of a number of musical educational institutions, concerts on the Lviv Radio, on the stages of the Literary and Art Club and the Institute of Folk Art, the German Theater at the Lviv Opera House testify to the high professional level of performing arts and a con- tinuation of the traditions prevailing in prewar years. For example, after the establishment of German domination, under the veto of higher education, Ukrainian activists, in spite of this, restored the work of the Higher Music Institute named after Mykola Lysenko (called the State Musical School with the Ukrainian language of instruction) and organized other educational centers (Courses of the theory of music and compositions, two levels Conducting courses and Musical School-studio at the IFА). The Ukrainian National Committee was the driving force behind Lviv’s artistic life during the whole period of the German occupation of the city. The concert bureau as a coordinating institution not only initiated some or other concert projects, but also real- ized them in life. An analysis of the quantitative and qualitative indicators of events and their publications suggests that the years of German occupation are a vivid example of an interesting phenomenon of preserving culture as a sign of national identity and, at the same time, preserving this identity through culture.
Tatiana Fiszer ##submission.copyrightStatement## 2018-07-12 2018-07-12 6 169 184 KOMPOZYTORZY GDAŃSCY? Using the definition of lifeworld and musical socialization, the article demonstrates that the lifeworld of youth performs compensatory and stabilizing functions and also alleviates their behavior. It is mainly these functions make that social reality become their “own world”. In the lifeworld, the musical preferences of young people are very important, and quite often turn out to be a means of communication. It should be noted that the music does not only affect the shaping of the lifeworld of young people, thus allowing them to be identified but, above all, separates the “youth world” from the “adult world”. Musical styles begin to serve as a kind of social language, being the stratification criterion for youth subcultures. Musical preferences as part of the process of youth socialization are one of the main manifestations of limiting the living space of young people.
Iryna Surina ##submission.copyrightStatement## 2018-07-12 2018-07-12 6 239 250 MUSIC ACTIVITIES AND GAMES DESIGNED TO MODIFY CLASS CLIMATE IN YOUNGER-SCHOOL AGED CHILDREN
MUSIC ACTIVITIES AND GAMES DESIGNED TO MODIFY CLASS CLIMATE IN YOUNGER-SCHOOL AGED CHILDREN Music activities and games are a natural human activity leading to the knowing beauty and peace. His thinking centered around the self-conception of music education based upon a bearing consensus about the fundamentals of cultural values in society. This attitude will be demonstrated by means of a brief analysis of his most influential publications such as the introduction and philosophical justification of the hermeneutic philosophy of understanding (Verstehen und Auslegen, 1971) and his seminal history book on music education (Geschichte der musikalischen Bildung, 2005) among others, and will be confirmed by his political involvement as president of the German Association of School Music (VDS) and his root-dness in Christian ethics.
